Collabration with a Dutch machine factory specialized in handling cases and pallets for internal logistics

These projects were developed for a Dutch manufacturer specializing in palletizers and transport systems. Their machines support both stock-based and order-based logistics for multinationals in warehouse and distribution environments.

The Project

We have realized several projects with a Dutch manufacturer of machines specialized in internal logistics. The main type of machines of this manufacturer are palletizers: flatbed palletizers and robots. In addition, they produce transport systems to transport cases and pallets. In this way, the manufacturer produces a complete solution for multinationals, which produce products according to the Make-To-Stock (MTS) process, where products are stored in warehouses. In addition, they also offer a complete solution for multinationals that produce according to the Make-To-Order (MTO) process, where products are sent almost directly to, for example, supermarket warehouses.

Specifications

The realized software consists of two parts, a front-end and a back-end.

The front-end is divided in two parts:

• Management activities, like order handling (products, buffer assignments, etc.) and operator handling (user access, language support, etc.)
• SCADA-HMI, this contains a map of the installation that is used to show alarms and installation states, parts of the installation can have different colors, depending on the state of that particular part.

The back-end contains several processes that handles different tasks, like:

• A label printing process
• Handles pallet label printing tasks.
• SAP communication
• Automatically updates the front-end in case a difference of a state in the installation is detected.

How we solved it

Our approach

We have ensured that communication with the PLCs and palletizers (flat beds and robots) is standardized. Which means that the installation status handlers are also standard processes in the installation. In addition, we modified the other processes that handle order and pallet information.
